A3maal (deeds). Are they eternal, perpetuating? Will they be reflected on our offsprings? Djin?
Speaking about the subject, A3maal and how long they live.
Here's what I think:
Firstly, everything is connected, if you study science and give it a bit of philosophical thoughts you'll come up with one result, which is that the universe and all that goes on in it is some how meshed together in one big network. A trivia about it, do you know that any two people alive in the world are connected through a chain of 6 nodes, of people.
Secondly, everything goes on in circles and cycles. Starting from the solar iterations of the planets and galaxies to the very everyday life we live. A trivia about it, we eat everyday certain number of times and within relative time spans.
Thirdly, even though change is constant, but it's relevant and some times at negligible rates. The trivia about this one is, we don't always eat the same food everyday but abstractly it's the same food, just a different chicken.
So, barring these ideas in mind(at least mine) I'd say everything we do does last and iterate for a number of times making us the center of it unless the outcome of this deed is for someone else, then he'd be the center of it. And depending on how long he goes on or if he keeps it to himself or not it lives.
The hadith(tradition) says: Iza mat ebn adam, enqata'a amaloho ela men salas, sadaqaton gareyah, waladon saleh yado'u lah aw elmon yontafa'o beh.
I hope you can read this or guess which hadith I'm talking about, sorry my keyboard doesn't have arabic!:$
The hadith pretty much explains itself and can be taken literally. Before all these communication lines and devices if a man did do some great deed he'd be considered a "wally" for muslims or a saint for christians, and most likely his teachings would live amongst his people/tribe for generations that is if it's genuine and unique enough for his people. And if his people's culture would dominate another's then would naturally pass these teachings on to the new domain and so on.
That was speaking on the global comprehension of the subject many many years ago.
On the individual aspect of the issue, it's very likely a man would have the greatest discoveries, ideas or learnings in the world and die without anyone knowing anything about him even if he tried to spread them. This is life, not all the good/bad things get the same echos.
Now there's an obvious contradiction here with the fact that for every loud sound among walls with certain distances there will be echos. It just depends on several other factors rather than just the abstract rule of echos.
We all know that for sure, but just felt like pointing it out.
Now a days with all the modern communication technologies and advancements and after humans have dominated the planet for millions of years of fights and wars for each culture, civilization or religion to dominate, we came up with the final result that there can't be one religion, language color for all humans altogether.
The technology of communication after all these human experiences made it rather very difficult (in my point of view) for any certain deed to live for any bit of time after the doer's time is over on earth. We as humans have exploited most of the genuine ideas and the reasons that made the apple fall are well known to everyone.
The verbalization and individualism made your deeds merely personal and only live as long as you do them or for a short while afterwards. Unless they were teachings to a following generation that wouldn't pass it by one more generation at the best case.
From where I'm standing, we no longer pray in the mosque for the sake of all muslims gather in one place under one dome, but for the sake of more hasanat or because it's inappropriate to only pray at home(in some definitions).
That's a long post ... Sorry!

I pray in mosques because i am not anywhere near my home + i like it specially when it is for the prayers that are recited out loud, this way i can listen to some quoran from a different person reciting different verses. This way i don't have to go and read the quoran but instead it is given to me in the prayer as surprising as it gets. :)
